Michael S. Sherrill received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in 1982. He graduated from the University Of Iowa School Of Law in 1984. He is licensed as an attorney in Minnesota and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a patent attorney. He is also licensed to practice before the United States Court for the District of Minnesota, United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Following graduation from law school, Mike practiced law with firms in Downtown Minneapolis. Following his natural entrepreneurial bent, in 1996 Mike founded Sherrill Law Offices. Mike is experienced in numerous areas of intellectual property law including assessing the patentability of new concepts; evaluating the availability of trademarks; procuring patent, trademark and copyright protection; identifying and protecting trade secrets; evaluating patent infringement; assessing patent validity; conducting trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings; auditing intellectual property assets; and development, maintenance and enforcement of a strong intellectual property portfolio. Mike also advises international clients in all matters of trademark and patent protection.
Mike has extensive patent experience in several technical areas including chemical, biochemical and mechanical products and processes.
